  • What are the rules around clothing in Dubai?

    Due to the conservative local culture in Dubai, it is best to wear modest dress - make sure shoulders and knees are covered and women will need a scarf or similar to be respectful when visiting religious buildings. Transparent or tight-fitting attire is not permitted, as well as clothing featuring cartoon character images.
  • Is Dubai cheap or expensive?

    With the right advice, you can experience the Dubai's highlights without overspending. The key is to use low-cost transportation and affordable dining, heading away from the tourist traps and following the locals to their favourite restaurants. With a little creativity, Dubai can offer plenty of options for budget-conscious travellers.
  • How much is a meal in Dubai?

    Expect to pay between AED 40-80 ($11-$22 USD) for a meal out in a mid-range restaurant in Dubai city.
  • Do I need a visa for Dubai?

    Most visitors to Dubai (including nationals from the UK, Europe, USA and Australia) require a tourist visa to enter the UAE. These will be issued upon arrival in the UAE. You will need at least one blank visa page in your passport. Some countries not mentioned above, will need to apply for a visa prior to entering the UAE so please check with your local embassy should this be the case. 

    Citizens of Gulf Cooperation Council countries do not require a paid visa, but will need to apply for a free eVisa instead.

  • Can I take my medication to Dubai?

    Yes, you can generally take your medication to Dubai,however most controlled substances require a permit from the UAE Ministry of Health and Prevention (MOHAP). 
  • Do you need vaccinations for Dubai?

    The standard vaccinations required are diphtheria, tetanus and polio, typhoid, hepatitis A and hepatitis B but you should always consult your doctor or travel clinic for the most up to date advice. You are only required to have a Yellow Fever certificate if you are arriving from a country that is considered to have a risk of Yellow Fever by the World Health Organisation. If you are flying directly from Europe or the USA (airport transfers in affected African countries are permitted up to 12 hours provided you do not leave the airport) then you will not require Yellow Fever.
  • Do I need mosquito repellent in Dubai?

    The short answer is no. Due to the lack of rainfall and water sources, mosquitos a rarely an issue in the UAE. 
  • Is healthcare free in Dubai for tourists?

    No, healthcare is not free in Dubai for tourists. You will be required to pay for all medical services you require so please ensure this is covered through your travel insurance.
