There are people for whom an ideal vacation would be one where they simply lay on the beach and do nothing for a week or two - and that's completely fine; everyone needs to unwind every once in a while, in whatever form they prefer. However, there are also people who cannot imagine a better way to spend time than to be in constant motion and stay busy - and that's who we want to talk about here.
Here are some of the activities that you should try at least once in your life, be it with a travel agency or on your own.
Mountain biking is a great way to not only spend time but also increase your stamina and prepare for activities that will be more challenging to the body, such as hiking for several days. If you decide to choose an organized activity, then chances are the organizer will have the mountain bikes waiting for you. However, if you decide to tackle this adventure on your own, you shouldn't have a problem renting a mountain bike in areas known for such activities.
Now you might be wondering - How to go mountain biking? Is it more difficult than regular biking? Well, the answer is kind of. The difference between the two is that mountain biking is more energy-consuming, so while it might not be too demanding in terms of, for example, technique, it is definitely more challenging for the body.
If you haven't heard about dog sledding yet, we'll gladly explain what it is - however, if you're a fan of Christmas movies, you've probably seen it without even realizing it, as it is a common occurrence in them. Basically, dog sledding involves a sled, which is led by sled dogs - the most common breed used in dog sledding are huskies, but sometimes you can also encounter other dogs, such as Canadian Eskimo Dog or Chinook.
During wintertime, the sled is easy to pull for the dogs, as the land is full of ice and snow, making the whole activity less physically challenging. On the other hand, during summer, the sled is usually equipped with wheels so that the dogs pulling the sled (as we already mentioned, usually huskies) can do it without much trouble.
Of course, we couldn't forget to mention surfing on our list. Practiced in a completely different environment to dog sledding, surfing is something that anyone should try at least once in their life. One of the preferred locations by many surfers is Kuta beach - the most famous beach located in Bali. Kuta beach is a beautiful place with a long stretch of golden sand.
People love surfing on Kuta beach because it is an ideal location for surfers of any skill level. Whether you are a total beginner or already have surfing experience, you won't be disappointed with it.
Another thing that we couldn't forget about is trekking. If you love the outdoors, then you should try to complete at least one trek in your life. It doesn't have to be a very difficult one, lasting a few days. It can be a simple one that will take just a few hours.
If that looks like something you'd enjoy, make sure to check out our Trekking and Hiking page. We have trips designated for people for all skill levels, so you'll probably find something for yourself.
Visiting a World Wonder
Our world is a beautiful place, so it would be a shame not to take advantage of it. You must have heard about the list of Wonders of the World.
The original one was created around 200 BC by Philo of Byzantium and was included in a work titled On the Seven Wonders. The list included, for example, the Pyramids of Giza, Hanging Gardens of Babylon, Temple of Artemis at Ephesus and Statue of Zeus at Olympia.
Unfortunately, not many positions from it are still standing today - in fact, only one is, and those are the Pyramids of Giza. That's why in 2001, a campaign was started by a Swiss foundation to pick New Seven Wonders of the World out of 200 existing monuments. The winners were announced in 2007, and while the Pyramids of Giza initially did not make a list, they were added as an honorary candidate.
So, here are the complete results - New Seven Wonders of the World chosen via a poll:
Great Wall of China
Christ the Redeemer
Pyramids of Giza (honorary candidate)
Here at Kandoo Adventures, we offer trips to Peru, during which you can see one of those Wonders - the Machu Picchu - as well as some other parts of the country that are definitely worth visiting.
One of the last things on our list is kayaking. Probably most people heard about it, but what they don't know is that it is extremely beneficial for your health - it improves your cardiovascular fitness, and it increases your muscles strength, especially in the areas that are mostly used during kayaking, which are the back, shoulders, arms and chest, as you use them when operating the paddle.
