We know how significant it is to choose the right hiking trip - if you hike on a regular basis, you will be bored on easy trails, and if you have just started this activity, more challenging adventures can be too demanding. Take a look at some of the hiking destinations we recommend!

The Inca Trail in Peru

Machu Picchu is undoubtedly the most famous place in the whole of Peru. It is a 15th-century Inca citadel built with polished dry-stone walls that has become iconic for this culture.

The Inca Trail is the original pilgrimage route to this sacred temple. It starts in Cuzco, the city that was the capital of the Incan empire back in ancient times. First, we suggest taking two days to get used to the climate and discover the local culture before you start hiking.

Our hiking tours to Machu Picchu begin at the Kilometre 82 gate, and they are planned in such a way so that you can get a perfect mixture of fascinating archaeological sites and breathtaking mountain landscapes.

You will hike in many different environments, such as the jungle, alpine tundra, and cloud forest. On your way, you will have the chance to visit such historical places associated with the Inca as Wiñaywayna, Runcuracay, and Phuyupatamarca.

The hike continues for four days, and as early as on the second day, you will have the opportunity to cross Dead Woman's Pass at 4200 metres. On the last day, the adventure ends with reaching Machu Picchu through the Sun Gate.

This place cannot be overcrowded, so only a maximum of 500 people can enter this route per day (including all the porters and guides). For this reason, it is recommended to plan your adventure in advance and book your trek early, especially since all permits go on sale in October.

The Machame Route in Tanzania

The Machame Route is one of the most popular hiking trails in Tanzania. If you are a hiking enthusiast yourself, we can take you on an unforgettable 7-day adventure there!

Your hiking vacations will start with climbing Machame Gate, which is 1800 metres high. You will approach the southwest of the mountain, hiking through amazingly beautiful rainforests on the first day.

Then, you will arrive at the Shira Camp, which is the point where the Lemosho Route connects from the west. From that point, our Machame route hiking trips head towards Barafu Camp through the Lava Tower and Great Barranco Wall.

After you have arrived at the summit and enjoyed the breathtaking views, you will have the opportunity to descend by the Mweka trail without the necessity to go back along the ascent route.

Interestingly, the Machame Route is sometimes referred to as 'the Whiskey Route' because hiking adventurers claim it is more challenging than the Marangu Route, nicknamed 'Coca Cola Route'. In fact, it is just longer and steeper at times, not exactly technically more difficult.

Actually, such a long distance and the possibility of "walking high, but sleeping low" can provide better acclimatisation during your hiking vacations, and that may be one of the reasons why trips to the Machame Route are so popular.

If you have not trekked at high altitudes often, it is an excellent seven-day hike for you. Thanks to an additional day's acclimatisation, the success rate here is really high.

However, if you are more experienced and acclimatised looking for more challenging hiking adventures, you may be more interested in the 6-day ascent along the Machame Route.

Everest Base Camp in Nepal

When you think about hikes, one of the most obvious suggestions that may come to your mind is certainly the trek to the Everest Base Camp in Nepal.

We organise lodge-based hiking trips allowing you to follow in the footsteps of Edmund Hillary, the most famous mountaineer from New Zealand, who (along with Tenzing Norgay) reached the summit of Mount Everest for the first time (as recorded) in 1953.

We will provide you with a lot of time to acclimatise and admire the stunning scenery. The starting point of this hike is a rollercoaster flight into Lukla, a small town in the Khumbu Pasanglhamu rural municipality of the Solukhumbu District.

Then, you will be hiking through the stunning Khumbu Valley to the Everest Base Camp itself. Before you re-trace your steps back to Lukla, you can have a short climb to the top of Kala Pattar to admire the fantastic views of the highest mountain in the world.

The Lemosho Route in Tanzania

If you want to avoid the crowds while hiking in Tanzania, you can choose the Lemosho Route.

It will take 8 days, so you will have plenty of time to enjoy your hiking journey and also, it will be very likely you will summit successfully.

You will start hiking at Londorossi Gate, where you will climb at an altitude of 2360 metres, approaching it from the west side. Interestingly, you will have the chance to go through a breathtaking forest and observe some of the characteristic wildlife.

Then, you will reach the mountain's third summit at Shira Ridge. From this point, you will cross the well-known Shira plateau and see the impressive Shira Cathedral.

After that, you will reach the Shira camp on the main Machame Route, it will allow you to do some quiet climbing before you start hiking the more popular route to the summit.

When you arrive at the summit, you will have the chance to descend by the Mweka trail instead of hiking the same way.
