POLAR EXPEDITIONS

Journey past the Arctic Circle to the wild and remote landscapes of the Svalbard Archipelago. This large collection of islands is home to the most northerly inhabited settlements on the planet. Svalbard, or Spitzbergen, is part of the Kingdom of Norway, is the closest habitable location to the North Pole and one of the most isolated places on Earth. Kandoo Adventures specialise in iconic trips to spectacular destinations and the polar regions are definitely more adventurous than many!

The Arctic is one of the starkest places in the world and comprises of an assortment of floating snow covered Arctic sea ice, the Arctic Ocean and its adjacent seas. Not technically a continent, or even a land mass, the area north of the Arctic Circle is like nowhere else on Earth. Travel to this wilderness with Kandoo Adventures and ski across snowy plains, hike the Arctic tundras, kayak along the Arctic shores and camp out on the ice. Svalbard’s eclectic islands include permafrost plains, sprawling tundra, ancient glaciers and ice-covered oceans. Kandoo offer different trips depending on what you want to see here and how long you’d like to explore for. To get here you’d normally fly into Oslo, Norway, before hopping a short flight from Oslo to Svalbard, Longyearbyen. All our trips begin in Longyearbyen before heading out into the wilds, often by Swedish tank. Yes, you read that right, Swedish tank.

The difficulty ratings for our Svalbard Arctic Circle holidays range from moderate to difficult due to the often-challenging terrain, changeable weather conditions and the remote nature of this destination. Only those with a reasonable level of fitness should consider a Svalbard holiday, and some of our trips require previous experience of kayaking and skiing.
