Our Porters and Crew

When you book with Kandoo you know that while you are enjoying your adventure you are helping support the community around the area you are visiting and that all your guides and support team are well paid, well cared for and well respected.

A fundamental part of our approach to all our adventures is that we care for our local teams. According to the World Tourism Organisation (WTO), Nepal and Tanzania are among the 10 poorest countries in the world, yet of the least developed countries are in the top three in terms of tourism revenue.

Kandoo supports porter welfare worldwide

Kandoo Adventures are a proud partner of the International Mountain Explorers Connection (IMEC), a not-for-profit organisation that focuses on improving the working conditions of porters on Kilimanjaro and in Nepal. IMEC was founded in 1996 in Boulder, Colorado to promote responsible and sustainable connections between travellers and the people of developing mountain regions of the world. Through its Porter Assistance Project, IMEC is focusing its efforts on improving the working conditions for porters on Kilimanjaro and in Nepal.IMEC actively follow the WTO Sustainable Tourism Eliminating Poverty (STEP) program to promote responsible, sustainable tourism that ensures the benefits from tourism “trickle down” to all members of the local population. Before you go on your adventures take a look though their website to see how you can help.

Along with IMEC, Kandoo are also members of the Kilimanjaro Porters Assistance Project (KPAP) and the Nepal Mountaineering Association.
